On November 25, 2019, the LaceLocker® Pursue Excellence Scholarship honoring Celina Baez Sotomayor was announced. Sha-Nice Young continues as the recipient of the Celina Baez Sotomayor Pursue Excellence Scholarship.  She received her first award as a junior on October 20, 2022.

The second recipient of The Celina Sotomayor Pursue Excellence Scholarship  (academic year 2021-2022) from LaceLocker at SUNY-Fredonia is Sha-Nice Young from Springfield Gardens, NY.
Sha-Nice is a freshman Math Education major at SUNY Fredonia and plans to become a Math teacher.

The first recipient of The Celina Sotomayor Pursue Excellence Scholarship from LaceLocker at SUNY-Fredonia is Pearl Baabu from Bronx, NY.  Pearl plans to major in Psychology.

 

Ms. Baabu feels very honored to receive this special scholarship.  How wonderful that she hails from the same borough in NYC where Celina raised her two children.
